The Toes Have It

I am a klutz, if you weren't aware of that fact. :) My poor feet are usually the victims in such random acts of grace that I seem to find myself in constantly and for my poor beebs, she too suffers her mommy's gracefulness. I had such high hopes for her to be graceful, poised and well behaved. None of those things have happened yet. I know, I know there is still time to brain wash her into being a lady but I'm thinking that might not happen.

My poor feet, from the time I was about 10 or 11, they have been the target of cans of food, random toys, couch supports and many other things that seem to find their way onto, or lodged into my feet. Just the other day, I was putting away groceries and dropped a can. After nearly 20 years of dodging things reacting to gravity, I have learned to move my feet quite quickly out of danger's way. Luckily this time no piggies were injured but it's still scary dropping a giant can of pumpkin and fearing the worst!

When I was about 7 or 8, we were re-roofing the family homestead. Everyone was helping out and for some reason, my parents figured it was a good idea to send all of us kids out to help pick up rusty old nails from the roofing project. Guess who got a nail in their foot?! Yup, this kid right here! And of course I wasn't wearing proper foot wear because why else would you need to put on saddle shoes other than to clean up horrible, tetanus inducing metal objects?

I was in the 10 year old range when I was walking across the living room and smacked my last three toes into the couch leg support thingy, thus breaking the crap out of them. Did I mention this happened 4 days before we were supposed to take a church trip to Indianapolis and walk around for hours on end? Yeah that was fun in a non-supportive sandal! :) Fashion first, comfort second... right?!

Needless to say, if there is something remotely dangerous or pain inducing that you can't find.... just invite me over... my feet will find it! Or if you'd like to test out the tensile strength of something involving a heavy object, I can figure that out for you.... I need to invest in some Red Wing shoes!
